Capitalist Haters and the Truth

Many in the United States are saying they hate capitalism, and would prefer socialism. I can’t help but think these people have no idea what capitalism really is, or it importance to the economy. Therefore, let me give you some examples:
The Grind Coffee House in Manistique, Michigan. It started as a student-run coffee shop, then quickly outgrew its label. It’s now locally owned and operated by Daren and Hali Holt. Hali was born and raised in Manistique. They value family and giving back to the community. I had the pleasure of visiting this small coffee shop on two trips through the town while on vacation. They make great coffee and teas, have tasty muffins, and provide friendly service. It is a CAPITALIST business - just like SpaceX and Google.
The I & I Tavern in Danville, Illinois. This business sits right on the Illinois-Indiana border. The nearby cell towers will likely ping your phone as being in the eastern time zone despite the fact you’re in the central time zone. It has become my midway stopping point when I visit family in my old home state. Don’t let the “Tavern” label fool you. This is a legitimate restaurant. They serve pork chops, catfish, rib-eye, pizza, burgers, and more. This, too, is a CAPITALIST business – just like SpaceX and Google.
The Manypenny Bistro in Bayfield, Wisconsin. This is my one of my two go-to places when I visit Lake Superior. The restaurant is operated by a woman who immigrated from Turkey. On my first visit to Bayfield, I didn’t stop in. That was a mistake. On my second trip, I ended up eating there four times in three days. While enjoying dinner, I had the privilege of talking to the owner so I could complement her on the great food her staff serves. Lo and behold, five minutes later, out came dessert… on the house. This, too, is a CAPITALIST business – just like SpaceX and Google.
Then there’s the Roadhouse Inn and Goat Locker Saloon in Paradise, Michigan. Paradise is a small town of a few hundred people, and a haven for snowmobile riders in winter. My visits were not during snow season. They have indoor eating, outside seating during good weather, and… there are a few penned goats on the far end of the lawn behind the property. You can walk up to them, and if they’re in the mood, possibly pet them. They have great food and one of the best Philly Cheese steaks outside of Philadelphia. The onion rings are huge. I didn’t have the pleasure of talking to the owner, but I did get to talk to her husband who oversees operations. This, too, is a CAPITALIST business – just like SpaceX and Google.
When you say you hate capitalism, you say you hate these friendly owners and employees who run magnificent small businesses, which is what freedom allows in a capitalist society. What you really hate is CORPORATISM. That’s when companies grow so large they forget their roots, see customers as numbers, and hire lobbyists to get government to stymie new competition. You’re hatred needs to be properly aimed.

Cuando dices que odias el capitalismo, dices que odias a estos amigables propietarios y empleados que dirigen magníficas pequeñas empresas, que es lo que permite la libertad en una sociedad capitalista. Lo que realmente odias es el CORPORATISMO. Es entonces cuando las empresas crecen tanto que olvidan sus raíces, ven a los clientes como números y contratan cabilderos para lograr que el gobierno obstaculice la nueva competencia.
